Extra Information Lanzarote / Arrecife Airport

Spotting at Arrecife Airport is great, the lighting conditions are good. There are very good places to take photo's of the landing and departing aircraft.

The last time we were there, they had removed the boardwalk around the airport, you could walk there from Puerto del Carmen to Arrecife. But the wooden boardwalk is gone, and we have no idea if it will come back. Now there is just sand

Spot number 1: Is good in the morning for take of photo's. There is a high fence around the airport but halfway there is a opening that you can use for taking photo's through. If you have back problems (like me) not good to do all day. But you can take good photo's there.

The fence.

This is the fence, no problem taking photo's through it, if you have not too large lenses. You need no more than around 55mm. Big planes (B757) are a problem taking from the side.

This photo is made on spot number 1.

This Iberworld is allmost ready for take off and taken at spot number 1.

Spot number 2: This spot is great to take photo's in the morning, mostly the wind on Lanzarote is North and they will use runway 03 if possible.

Spot 2 landing

This is a Lanzarote Arrival, very low.

spot2 landing front

At spot number 2 you don't need big lenses. We used our 55-200mm lens and it workt perfect.

Spot number 3: This spot is good for evening photo's. When walking on the boulevard you see a white house with a lot of antennas on the roof, walk past it, turn left and go up the hill. There you can take photo's, someone made some holes in the fence (they were there when we were there last), you could use them to take photo's PLEASE DON'T MAKE THE HOLES YOURSELF!!!! Or you can walk further up the hill, till you see a bench (sort of). There was a refrigirator you could climb on, and take photo's over the fence. If the refrigirator is gone, you could use some steps or be creative and build someting.

Spot 3 landing

Spot 3 is a great place to take photo's.

Spot3 take off
